The WHO Expert Committee on Food Contaminants has pointed out the need of determining the content of foods in trace elements in order to ascertain their contribution to the total intake of oligoelements through the diet. Since the contents in trace elements depend on the environmental features, it is necessary to carry out systematic determinations of trace elements in foods of local origin in order to know the exposure level of population. The development of international health from a historical point of view has undergone major advances in recent times and constitutes a substantial part of the current agenda for historians of medicine. Within this framework, and focussing on a specific case study (international responses to poliomyelitis outbreaks in the 20th century), we explore the main actions and achievements of agencies such as the WHO and other private and international scientific organizations. Furthermore, this paper seeks to identify the Spanish presence and absence in these activities, their causes and consequences.
Diseño y validación de un cuestionario sobre fracaso escolar en alumnado de educación secundaria

Resumen: El presente artículo expone los resultados del diseño y la validación de un cuestionario sobre fracaso escolar, dirigido al alumnado de Educación Secundaria. Se trabajó con una muestra de 200 estudiantes en el Centro de F.P.A (Formación de Personas Adultas) Germà Colón de Castelló de la Plana (España) durante el curso 2010/2011. El instrumento está compuesto por 35 ítems, divididos en cuatro dimensiones principales (centro educativo, aula, profesorado y situación personal y familiar).
